Situation
A large Australian global investment banking and diversified financial services group sought an RPO partner to support its worldwide hiring of niche, market-leading roles. In EMEA, the company needed a flexible team to support a high volume of UK-based vacancies, and to fuel expansion into new European markets.
Given the company’s commitment to maintaining an entrepreneurial culture, company policy avoids advanced workforce planning. While this helps the organisation remain nimble, it prevents any RPO partner from forecasting hiring volumes and role types. The company rarely hires the same role twice —making talent pipelining impossible.
Journey to success
After a competitive bid process, we were selected as the global RPO provider. A team of specialist recruiters, sourcing experts, and support staff was deployed worldwide.
Across EMEA, our team now manages experienced hire recruitment for all positions including permanent employees, temporary workers, contractors, retained search, fixed term, and some non-executive director roles. In a three-year period, we’ve hired for the European HQ in London, established offices in Edinburgh (UK), France, Germany, Austria, Spain, Ireland, The Netherlands, Abu Dhabi and Dubai and for new offices in Reading (UK), Italy, Sweden, Luxembourg, Norway, and the Czech Republic. We often hire the first employee in each new country office.
Our recruiters constantly balance resources for this transactional fee-based account. In 2017, without prior notice, our team hired 50 per cent more candidates than in the previous three years. To successfully meet these changing requirements, the team has leveraged the Sourcing Centre of Excellence.
Project expansion
The client continues to expand its EMEA operations. In partnership, our resourcing team has continued to grow both onsite and via the Sourcing Centre of Excellence. Offering nimble flexibility, we continue to deliver high-quality service to our entrepreneurial and innovative client.
Behind the scenes
We also hire specialty recruiters to help the client comply with the UK’s changing financial regulatory environment. In addition, we focus on diversity hiring by partnering with local community groups. This helps the business reflect the communities it serves. Our experienced recruitment specialists also recommend and implement diversity hiring strategies. They provide unconscious-bias training to internal business groups.
