Leading Energy provider engages RPO to create a consistent, cost-saving hiring process

Situation

Before the introduction of an RPO, our client had a small, centralised in-house recruitment team who managed all internal and external permanent and fixed term hiring. Contingent hiring was de-centralised, lacked governance and cost controls and was hiring-manager led. Recruitment costs were extremely high due to a heavy reliance on recruitment agencies for external hiring across both permanent and contingent. There was no central view of permanent/contingent recruitment and diversity and internal mobility outcomes were poor due to the lack of visibility of internal opportunities and poorly defined diversity targets.

Journey to success

Hudson RPO started onsite in September 2013 and implemented a blended RPO/Contingent solution to manage end-to-end internal and external hires across permanent, contingent, volume recruitment and onboarding for all job families. As part of the implementation, three of the client’s internal recruitment team were transitioned to Hudson RPO. The solution swiftly delivered significant improvements in both KPI adherence and service delivery.

Our team’s delivery was structured by specialisation and augmented by a dedicated onsite and offshore sourcing team with access to our Rapid Response resourcing hub to support workload peaks. Our Hudson RPO onsite team was also supported by our broad range of experts across the areas of employment branding, EVP, strategic sourcing and reporting/analytics.

Key deliverables included:

  • Introduction of key diversity metrics and strategies to improve diversity hiring
  • Implemented consistency and transparency in the recruitment process for candidates and hiring managers
  • Significantly improved internal mobility outcomes positively impacting retention.
  • Development and execution of recruitment strategy for a business-wide restructure.

Centralising contingent labour was achieved via an RPO/CMO (Contingent Management Organisation) partnership.
