Be inspired by our people who went above and beyond for others this year.

At Hudson RPO, we shape the future of talent. Every day, our people connect organizations and individuals to create opportunities and bring people and businesses closer to their ambitions. As a team of passionate individuals from all corners of the globe, it comes as no surprise that our people go above and beyond for others outside of the workplace as well. At the end of 2022, we wanted to take this opportunity to shine a spotlight on some of our exceptional employees giving back to their communities.

Small steps, big impact

Our EMEA region recently kick-started its partnership with the award-winning platform, Onhand. Onhand is an all-in-one tool to engage employees in local volunteering and climate action. The tool enables our people to help whenever and wherever suits them, either on their own or as part of a team. In a matter of weeks, the team has already made a big positive impact, completing 20 missions in 2 weeks.

Anna Lewandowska completed her first mission with the help of her son. “Today my son helped me complete my first mission from #onHand. We organized gifts for children in need of support this Christmas. There is still plenty to be done in my area!”

A couple of weeks later, Anna and her daughter embarked on a mission to bring Christmas cards and home baked-goodies to their neighbors.

Miles Stribbling, Head of Marketing EMEA & Americas was key in launching the partnership between OnHand and Hudson RPO. “OnHand is a great platform that makes it easier to help out, when and where you can. We have seen a massive uptake from our people and hope to continue our efforts!”

Family volunteering in the community

Jessica Shelton, Recruiter in the Americas makes a big difference for her community and gets involved with her whole family. “We do Saturday Serve days where we make meals for those in the community who have a need, and we have packaged kits for doctors and nurses to deliver to hospitals. I also pick up a group of girls from an assisted living facility to take them out for day trips to church, or out to eat to celebrate birthdays. The whole family gets involved, my 4 boys, and my parents as well!”

Team building & giving back

In our APAC region, the Hudson RPO talent specialists joined their client’s talent acquisition team on a mission to give back to the community. Megan Willoughby, Talent Acquisition specialist in Sydney shares:

“The TA team headed into the festive season as volunteers alongside Vinnies Support Centre. We assisted by arranging Christmas gifts that had been donated by the public. These gifts will be distributed to people experiencing poverty, disadvantage and homelessness in the community. It is safe to say the whole team came away feeling very inspired by everyone who worked at Vinnies. Thank you, Vinnies, for letting us get involved!”

Adina Rehman, Recruitment Specialist in the EMEA region, organized Christmas Jumper Day in the Edinburgh office to support Save the Children. And this year, her campaign also got the support of the offices in Americas and APAC. Christmas Jumper Day has been a long-standing tradition our Edinburgh Centre of Excellence and this year’s pictures might just be the best ones yet:

Getting Active to make a change

Verity Morrison, from our ANZ team, ran 30km(!) on Saturday November 26th in the ‘[MO]re Than A Run’ fundraising event in Sydney. The event raises important funds to support mens’ health, mental health, and suicide prevention. She tells us more about the event:

On the 26th November, we ran 1 of 3 distances representing mental health stats across Australia and New Zealand.

  • 10km for the one in ten men around the world living with an anxiety disorder
  • 30km for the 30% rise in the number of Australian men dying by suicide over the last decade / for the more than 30% of New Zealanders who have personally experienced mental distress.
  • 60km for the 60 men we lose to suicide each hour, every hour around the world

It was a fantastic day, we started at Centennial Park where the 60km runners met up with us after their first 30km, and we ran up heartbreak hill to Bondi (where the pic of me running was taken halfway in at 15km) and back to the Homestead at Centennial to meet the 10km runners, before heading back to the Establishment for a fantastic event ran by Lululemon and [mo]re than a run – Nedd Brockman was briefly there! Run clubs across Australia and NZ participated on the same day, and joined together for celebrations at the end.”

On the other side of the world, James Campbell in our EMEA region gives back to his community by volunteering at his local club and positively influencing the lives of the club’s minis:

“I started coaching rugby at a senior level as a volunteer in 2016 after playing for a long time. Through this I gained my coaching certificate from the SRU (Scottish Rugby Union). Since 2021 I have been volunteering with the mini section, primary 1 to 7, at my club since my son started playing. To see the kids taking on board and using the things you teach them is extremely rewarding. Even more so when you have fellow coaches from other clubs complimenting them.”
